What we do
Digitise. Connect. Automate. Secure.
We design software around each institution, with security, flexibility and integration built into its core.
One record, many parties
Where institutions must agree, we build the record they share.
Wherever several institutions must agree on the same facts (what is owed, what is held, what was paid, what may be released) and none of them can or should hold the whole truth, Lybica builds the record they share.
Each party sees and acts on its own part, within its own authority.
- 01
Event
One institution confirms an event.
- 02
Rule
The record applies the rule every party agreed.
- 03
Action
Another institution receives a single-use instruction and acts on it.
- 04
Reconciliation
At close of day, both see the same balance.
Digitise
Paper becomes a service.
- 01
Paper forms, letters and manual approvals become digital services.
- 02
A customer reaches them from a phone.
- 03
A bank officer works them from a single screen.
Connect
What works stays. Now it works together.
- 01
The bank's core system, a partner's platform and public agencies' data, joined.
- 02
Every integration is built to each party's own rules.
- 03
Nothing that works is replaced.
Automate
The repetitive work goes. The decision stays.
- 01
AI reads documents as they arrive.
- 02
It checks them against the agreed rules.
- 03
It drafts the next step for a person to approve.
Security
We don't add security. We start from it.
Why it comes first
A shared record is worth sharing only if every party can trust that no other party can overreach. So the permission boundaries are the product: each institution acts only within its own authority, and every action leaves a trail.
How we build it
- Threat modelling before design.
- Least privilege and separation of duties in every workflow.
- Single-use instructions for anything that moves value.
- Encryption in transit and at rest.
- Independent testing.
- Continuous monitoring.
- An audit trail every party can inspect, within its own permissions.
Where it comes from
Lybica's first business was UK cyber security: compliance, testing and monitoring. That work now sits beneath everything we build.
AI, safely
AI reads, checks and drafts; it never holds an authority. Each institution's data stays within the environment agreed with it.
How
Designed around each institution, in four steps.
- 01
Understand
We learn the process as it runs today: who sends what, to whom, and where it waits.
- 02
Design
We design the shared record, and who may do what within it.
- 03
Build
We build it and integrate it with the systems already running.
- 04
Run
We run it with the institution, side by side.
Questions
What bankers ask us first.
What does Lybica do?
Lybica builds financial-services software for Africa: secure, connected, AI-assisted systems that let banks and the parties around them work from one shared record instead of letters, email and spreadsheets.
Is Lybica a bank or a lender?
No. Lybica is a software company. It builds the systems that banks and other regulated institutions run. It does not lend, hold deposits, hold client money or process payments.
Does Lybica hold the money?
Never. The institutions hold the money and the assets, and keep every authority over them. Lybica's software gives each party the same record and lets each act only within its own authority.
Where does Lybica work?
Across Africa, with East Africa — Kenya and Tanzania — as its base and teams on the ground there.
How does Lybica approach security?
As the foundation, not a feature. Lybica's roots are in UK cyber security and government delivery; permission boundaries, audit trails, independent testing and monitoring are designed in from the start.
How does Lybica use AI?
To read, check and draft — documents, rules, reconciliations — so people decide faster. AI never holds an authority; every decision that matters stays with a person at the institution.
Can Lybica work with our existing core banking system?
Yes. Lybica's software is built to connect with the systems an institution already runs, not to replace what works.
How do we start?
Start a conversation through the contact page. Tell us whether you are an institution, a partner or an investor, and what you want to build.
Every party sees the same record. None of them holds it alone.
